Spiralwound Resistors
• These spiral wound resistor units feature an open wire
element (made from Nichrome or stainless steel resistive alloy)
wound around an insulated core. Stainless steel terminals and
hardware are standard.
• The spiraled design allows for superior forced-air cooling
due to minimal air resistance caused by the core of the resistor
and the increased surface area of the resistive material.
• Elements have a very quick "cool down" period
after operation and are very light weight.
• Used for low current industrial applications from 2 to
21 amps continuous with natural convection cooling. Even higher
capacity is possible for intermittent duty applications or by
adding forced-air cooling.
• Typical applications include load banks and heaters.
