Erlanger, Kentucky (June 23, 2005)-IPC Power Resistors and Post Glover Resistors have successfully merged, combining two of the world's market leaders in power resistors into a single entity. The resulting company, Post Glover IPC Resistors, incorporates the strengths of the two companies to form a center for engineering and manufacturing excellence.
The move combines the complementary product lines of the two businesses, IPC's lower power wound resistors and Post Glover's higher power grid resistors. This will allow customers to capitalize on the strengths of both companies and creates important management and procurement efficiencies.
"Merging allows resources to be shared across several product lines and territories, further strengthening all our market positions," said Richard Field, one of the executives leading the merger process. "The goal is to create a single source for all power resistor requirements, a company that will set the pace in our chosen markets."
Reception of the news in the marketplace has been solid. The strong reputations of the two former competitors, as well as individual strengths in international sales, supply chain management and lean manufacturing, have created a sense of confidence throughout the industry that the marriage will benefit customers. "Together they should be able to focus on more product development and even shorter lead times," commented one long-time Post Glover customer.
Individually, the companies were typically the two largest domestic players in the areas where they competed. Both companies bring solid order books into the union. The integration of the two manufacturing facilities was completed in May, a transition that was seamless to customers. The combined engineering and sales teams have been working together since then, and the result has been the creation of an enormous library of application and technical data from which all customers can profit.
